Jordanian ambassador receives Yemeni Medal Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh Presented Yemeni Unity/May 22 medal to Jordan Ambassador to Yemen Mohammad al-Khaldi in recognition of his efforts to further cement brotherly ties between Jordan and Yemen. Italian President honors Arhab al-Sarhi The president of the Italian Republic issued a decree granting a medal to Dr. Arhab Al-Sarhi, the public Affairs Specialist at the Yemeni Italian Friendship Association. The honorary decree was granted after receiving the approval of Yemen’s President Ali Abdullah Saleh, as required by Italian law, in recognition of Al-Sarhi’s achievements in strengthening Yemeni-Italian relations over the past five years. Al-Sarhi said that he is happy to receive this honor, which is also an honor for Yemen. The medal recognized al-Sarhi for all of his work, and especially for his help during the kidnapping of Italian tourists last January, and his support to the embassy staff during that time. Al-Sarhi played a large and effective role during the kidnapping, and was a key communication person between the Italian government and various Italian media to inform them of the event’s development, presenting Yemen’s position and actions to free the hostages peacefully. yobserver.com 25 Dec 06 |

Khoury granted unity medal for contributions to Yemeni development President Ali Abdullah Saleh has awarded the unity medal to Arab businessman Said Tawfiq Khoury in recognition of his contribution to the development process in Yemen in various fields. The medal was handed to Khoury, president of Consolidated Contractors Companies (CCC) and governor of the Palestine Bank, by President Saleh in an official ceremony. Saba news agency said that the medal was granted to Khoury in recognition of his role in the development process in Yemen in different spheres as well as for his contributions to humanitarian and charitable fields. Khoury expressed pleasure and pride at receiving this medal from the President of the Republic, affirming that he would be faithful to Yemen and would exert his utmost efforts to continue to serve the country. yobserver.com 5 Apr 08 |
