Transport Minister Chan Heads Sarawak Honours List Transport Minister Datuk Seri Chan Kong Choy heads the list of 152 recipients of medals and honours in conjunction with the 85th birthday of the Yang Dipertua Negeri of Sarawak, Tun Abang Muhammad Salahuddin Abang Barieng. Chan, 51, who is MCA deputy president, is among six people who receive the Darjah Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Sarawak (First Class) for Panglima Negara Bintang Sarawak (PNBS) which carries the "Datuk Seri" title. The other five are State Planning and Resource Management Minister II Datuk Awang Tengah Ali Hassan, State Social Development and Urbanisation Minister Datuk William Mawan Ikom, outgoing Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Bakri Omar, State Financial Secretary Datuk Ahmad Tarmizi Sulaiman and former Tourism Minister Datuk Dr Leo Michael Toyad. Two educationists receive the Darjah Gemilang Bintang Kenyalang Sarawak (Second Class) for Panglima Gemilang Bintang Kenyalang (PGBK) which carries the "Datuk" title. They are Director-General of the Higher Education Ministry's Institute of Higher Learning Management Department Datuk Prof Dr Hassan Said and Universiti Malaysia Sarawak Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Abdul Rashid Abdullah. Deputy State Secretary Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani also receives a similar award. Heading the list of the Darjah Jasa Bakti Sarawak (DJBS) recipients who get the "Datu" title is Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC) General Manager Len Talif Salleh. The others are Permanent Secretary in the State Agriculture Modernisation Ministry Jaul Samion and Director of the Audit Unit in the Chief Minister's Department William Lee Boon Tong. The recipients of the Darjah Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Sarawak for the Pingat Panglima Setia Bintang Sarawak (Honorary) are Datuk Thian Hoo Tan and a medical specialist from Singapore, Dr Ngoi Sing Shang. Seven people receive the Darjah Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Sarawak (First Class) for the Pingat Panglima Setia Bintang Sarawak (PSBS) which carries the "Datuk" title. They are banker Datuk Vaseehar Abdul Razak; Dr Sim Swee Liang; businessmen Sim Hock Guan, Abang Mohd Khalid Tun Abang Muhammad and Ting Ong Hua; educationist Norolah Tuanku Othman; and Natural Resources and Enviroment Board Deputy Chairman Dr James Dawos Mamit, who is also the Member of Parliament for Mambong. Prof David John Booth of the Sarawak Campus of the Swinburne University is the sole recipient of the Darjah Gemilang Bintang Kenyalang Sarawak for the Johan Bintang Kenyalang (Honorary) (JBK(H)). Three state government employees receive the Pingat Pentadbiran Awam for the Pingat Perkhidmatan Cemerlang (EMAS) (PPC). Taib heads Sarawak Governor’s honours list Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud heads 421 recipients of state honours and awards in conjunction with Sarawak Yang di-Pertua Negri Tun Abang Muhamad Salahuddin’s 82th birthday. Taib is the second recipient so far of the Satria Bintang Sarawak (SBS) that carries the title Pehin Sri. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad was the first recipient of SBS. Jeddah-based Dallah Al-Baraka group president Saleh Abdullah Kamel is the only recipient of Panglima Negara Bintang Sarawak (Honorary), which carries the title Datuk Seri. Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Norian Mai is the sole recipient of Panglima Negara Bintang Sarawak, which carries the title of Datuk. Dallah Al-Baraka group senior vice-president Mahmoud Jamil Hassoubah receives the Panglima Gemnilang Bintang Kenyalang (Honorary), which carries the title Datuk. State Assistant Minister for Tourism Peter Nyarok Entrie and Jepak assemblyman and Sarawak Economic Development Corp chairman Talib Zulpilip both receive the PGBK, which carries the title of Datuk. The sole recipient of Darjah Jasa Bakti Sarawak, which carries the title Datu, is state education director Mohammed Sabil.
