State Awards of Melaka John D. McMeekin
Melaka (Malaysia) - Fong Chan Onn Heads Melaka Honours List Human Resources Minister Datuk Wira Dr Fong Chan Onn heads the list of 887 people who received state honours in conjunction with the 67th birthday of Melaka Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob. Fong was awarded the Darjah Gemilang Seri Melaka (DGSM) which carries the title "Datuk Seri". Two other DGSM recipients are Umno Kelantan chairman Datuk Annuar Musa and Member of Parliament for Putrajaya Datuk Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor. The four recipients of Darjah Cemerlang Seri Melaka (DCSM), which carries the title "Datuk Wira", are Melaka State Secretary Ismail Saleh, Melaka State Assembly Speaker Datuk Momin Abdul Aziz, Chairman of the Association of Former People's Representatives Malaysia (Mubarak) Datuk Abdul Razak Alias and businessman Datuk Syed Ali Abbas Alhabshee. The total number of recipients of the titles "Datuk Seri", "Datuk Wira" and "Datuk" this year has been reduced to 57 from 84 last year. A total of 50 recipients were awarded the Darjah Mulia Seri Melaka (DMSM) which carries the title "Datuk". They include Melaka police chief Ayob Mohamed, Melaka State Financial Officer Kamarul Zaman Md Isa, Melaka State Legal Advisor Zauyah Be T. Loth Khan, Finance Ministry's Tax Analysis Division Secretary Aziyah Bahaudin and Election Commission Secretary Kamaruzaman Mohd Noor. Among the other recipients are Chairman of Darul Itam Orphanage Idris Talib, Federation of National Writers Associations Secretary Zainal Abidin Borhan, Puteri Umno chief Noraini Ahmad, Southern Hospital specialist Dr Durshan Kumar Khanna a/l Fakir Chand, Syarikat Orang Kampung executive chairman Maanggar Haniff, small and medium industries consultant Abdul Razak Rahmat, National Successful Farmer award winner Abdul Manaf Sulong, Kuala Linggi state assemblyman Abdul Rahman Palit, Malaysian Youth Council Deputy President Abdullah Abu Bakar, Sepang International Circuit General Manager Ahmad Mustafa, Umno Bakri division chief Abdullah Mohd Ali, Penang 4B Youth chairman Ahmad Ramizun Kamarudin and Pahang Umno Secretary Datuk Ahmad Tajuddin Sulaiman. Other DMSM recipients include Taipei Malaysia Investors Association President Chen Chin Kun, Umno Silam division deputy chief Gulam Haidar Khan Bahadar, Cubic Electronics Sdn Bhd managing director Goh Seng Chong, Member of Parliament for Tangga Batu Idris Harun, Umno Malaysia Administrative Secretary Ishak Abu Bakar, lawyer Kesavan a/l Krishnan, Melaka Customs Director Md Hassim Pardi, Member of Parliament for Kuala Krai Mohamed Razali Che Mamat, Malaysian Contractors Association Vice President Md Noor Omar, Mubarak member Mohammed Jelani Jaafar, lawyer Palpanaban a/l Devarajoo, Perak Petty Traders Association Chairman Omar Ahmad, Wanita Umno exco Raja Ropiaah Raja Abdullah, Umno Youth exco Shamsul Najmi Shamsuddin, Edaran Otomobil Nasional (EON) managing director Syed Hisham Syed Wazir, Paya Rumput state assemblyman Tahir Hassan and political secretary to the Sabah Chief Minister Zakaria Mohd Edris. Ten other DMSM recipients, all businessmen, are Foo Ah Kow, Eric Tan Seah Lim @ Tan Swee Lim, Leow Chong Howa, Lim Kim Huat @ Lim Kee Chooi, Mahabob Khalid, Shahrazi Sha'ari, Tan Soon Tew, Tan Ser Lay, Yusof Yahaya and Yap Pit Kian. Forty-two people received the Darjah Seri Melaka (DSM). Among them are Melaka Deputy State Secretary Azizan Hamid, Chief Operating Officer of the Melaka Investment Centre Ismail Lajen, Melaka Economic Action Council Director Dr Mohd Haflah Piei, Melaka Health Department Director Dr Nooraini Baba, Melaka Tengah police chief ACP Mohd Khasni Mohd Nor and Melaka Foundation General Manager Yusuf Jantan. A total of 79 people were conferred the Bintang Cemerlang Melaka (BCM), among whom are Berita Harian Melaka Bureau Chief Daud Awang, Melaka CID deputy chief Ariffin Sutan and Melaka Henry Gurney School Director Jamil Razif Kassim. Malaka honours for 823 Sixty-nine people have been conferred awards which carry the title "Datuk" in conjunction with the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Khalil Yaakob’s 68th birthday. Heading the list of 823 recipients are Second Finance Minister Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek and Information Minister Datuk Zainuddin Maidin. They will receive the Darjah Gemilang Seri Melaka, which carries the title "Datuk Seri". There is no recipient for the state’s highest award, the Darjah Utama Negeri Melaka, which carries the title "Datuk Seri Utama". Seven are awarded the Darjah Cemerlang Seri Melaka (DCSM), which carries the title "Datuk Wira". They are Malacca High Court judge Datuk Abu Samah Nordin, Armed Forces chief Laksamana Tan Sri Mohd Anwar Mohd Nor, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan, Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad chairman Tan Sri Dr Zainul Ariff Hussain, Tenaga Nasional Berhad president/chief executive Datuk Che Khalib Mohamad Noh, Universiti Teknologi Mara vice-chancellor Datuk Seri Prof Dr Ibrahim Abu Shah and businessman Datuk Seri Adam Sani Abdullah. Among them are RHB Bank executive vice-president Abd Halim Abd Hamid, Malacca state Assembly deputy speaker Idderis Kassim, state Tourism, Culture and Arts Committee chairman Abd Rahaman Abd Karim, state Agriculture and Rural Development Committee chairman Md Yunos Husin and Yayasan Pelajaran Mara chief executive Abdul Rahim Hassan. Also, Malaysian High Commissioner to Ghana Mahalil Baharam, New Straits Times Press group editor-in-chief Datuk Hishamuddin Aun, Malacca police chief SAC (I) Ayub Yaakob, UDA Holdings chairman Baharum Mohamed, Police Training College Commandant SAC (I) Benjamin Hasbie, D’Paradise Tropical Fruit World and Aboriginal Native Village director Lee Wah Chong and Malacca Syariah High Court judge Mahamad Ibrahim. Others include Utusan group editor-in-chief Datuk Mohd Khalid Mohd, former Senator Ng Ah Poi@Wong Sian Chuan, Malacca St John Ambulance deputy commandant Brig-Jen Dr N. Rajagopal, Road Safety Department director-general Suret Singh and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s press secretary Tengku Sariffuddin Tengku Ahmad. Thirty-seven people receive the Darjah Seri Melaka, Justice of Peace (39), Bintang Cemerlang Melaka (99), Bintang Khidmat Terpuji (134), Pingat Jasa Kebaktian (262), Pingat Bakti Masyarakat (128) and Pingat Khidmat Lama (44). title. Thirty-seven people were bestowed with Darjah Mulia Seri Melaka (DMSM) which carries the Datuk title. Among them were State Tourism, Culture and Arts Committee chairman Abd Rahaman Abd Karim, Syariah High Court judge Mahamad Ibrahim, police's commercial crime principal assistant director Ab Razak Ab Ghani and Finance Ministry's budget director Latifah Abu Mansor. Others included Dewan Rakyat secretary Mahmood Adam, Road Safety Department director-general Suret Singh, Putra Hospital's surgeon Lt Kol (R) Dr Senasi Annamalai and Deputy Prime Minister's press secretary Tengku Sarifuddin Tengku Ahmad. Twenty people received Darjah Seri Melaka (DSM) including TV9 chief operating officer Bukhari Che Muda while 24 people received Jaksa Pendamai (JP) including movie producer Ruhani Ab Rahman. Fifty-eight people received Bintang Cemerlang Melaka (BCM), 68 Bintang Khidmat Terpuji (BKT), 133 Pingat Jasa Kebaktian (PJK), 62 Pingat Bakti Masyarakat (PBM) and 22 Pingat Khidmat Lama (PKL).
