• Gadaffi honours African leaders The Libyan leader, Colonel Gadaffi, is reported to have presented eleven African leaders with medals, in appreciation of their decision to ignore the United Nations air embargo against his country. The presidents of Uganda, Niger, Chad and Eritrea were present at the ceremony. Medals of honour were also received on behalf of another seven African leaders from Sudan, Mali, the Gambia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Zimbabwe, Burkina Faso and the Central African Republic news.bbc.co.uk 1 Oct 98

• Libyan ambassador receives VUFO medal Salem Ali Salem Dannah, Secretary of the People's Bureau of Libya, has been awarded "For Peace and Friendship Between Nations Medal", in recognition of his devotion to friendly and cooperative relations between Viet Nam and Libya. The medal, the most notable reward of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO), was presented to him by VUFO General Secretary Tran Dac Loi in Ha Noi.  As Secretary of the People’s Bureau or Libyan Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Viet Nam for 8 years, Salem Ali Salem Dannah has been involved in the VUFO’s activities and actively participated in charity activities launched by the Viet Nam Fatherland Front and the Viet Nam Children Support Fund. vnagency.com.vn 23 Jun 04

• " Good Hope " The Golden Medal The 28th of October coincides with the anniversary in which the prominent African Freedom Fighter, Nelsen Mandela had decorated the Leader of the Revolution on this same day of 1997 with the " Good Hope " Golden Medal, the highest decoration granted by South Africa to honor those who had made great contributions to support the struggle of South African people to confront the apartheid regime. The African Freedom Fighter, Nelson Mandela has come to Great Jamahiriya on that day specially to decorate the Leader with this sublime medal . The decoration took place in a huge celebration at a hall that was named since then " Mandela Hall " in the city of Zawara, of al-Niqat al-Khams Shabia. This distinctive decoration by the great African Freedom Fighter, Nelson Mandela came to prove the pioneering rule played by the Leader of the Revolution in liberating the African continent from colonialism and racism, as well as his support for peoples struggle in defending their just causes for the sake of freedom peace and development. en.libc.net 28 Oct 06

• Décoration de personnalités italiennes et libyennes Libya decorated several prominent Italians with the "Al-Fateh" Medal for their efforts in improving friendship and cooperation between the two countries. Amongs those decorated were Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, and three former Prime Ministers, Juilio Andreiotti, Massimo Dalima, and Romano Prodi. A number of politicians, intellectuals and journalists were also honoured. As well, several Libyans were awarded the "Travail vertueux" Medal for their contribution to friendship and cooperation with Italy. Libyans awarded were the secretary of the popular committe général, the Dr Baghdadi Mahmoudi, the secretary of External Affairs and International Cooperation, Abderrahmane Chalgham, the Secretary of European Affairs, Abdelati Labidi, and the Scretary of World Atab Affairs, Mohamed Siala. • Malta’s President bestowed with Libya's highest honour Malta’s President and Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi bestowed on each other the highest honour both countries have to offer. Col. Gaddafi bestowed the Medal of the Great El Fatah (1st Degree) on President de Marco who reciprocated by bestowing the Companion of Honour of the National Order of Merit with collar on Muammar Gaddafi.
