The Victory of Adwa Medal - Former Prime Minister of Fiji, Major-General Sitiveni Rabuka, has been awarded the Ethiopian Centenary of the Victory of Adwa Medal. The award, bestowed upon Mr Rabuka on the authorization of the Prince of Ethiopia, His Imperial Highness Prince Ermias Sahle-Selassie Haile-Selassie, is in recognition of friends and supporters of Ethiopia. The award is specifically to commemorate the victory of the battle of Adwa of March 1896 at which European colonialism was prevented from securing control over Ethiopia. The Victory of Adwa Medal was authorized for bestowal beyond the Centenary anniversary of 2 March 1986. It was first minted in 1996 and has been bestowed on royalty, presidents, ministers, ambassadors, military officers and friends of Ethiopia. fiji.gov.fj Mar 01

French Ambassador bestows high honors on two Ethiopian women The French Ambassador has bestowed the Order of Merit and Legion of Honoron two Ethiopian women at a ceremony held at the embassy.
