Information About the Orders, Decorations and Medals Website

Objective: My objective is for this website to be your starting point when surfing the net for information on Orders, Decorations and Medals. As well, we want to provide medal researchers and collectors with the latest news and information on medals.

Note: This website consists mainly of links to online news items and other websites related to medals. Please keep in mind that the accuracy of information contained in news items and websites may not necessarily be correct and should only be used as a starting point for detailed factual research using reliable primary and secondary sources.

Who am I: My name is Jean-Paul LeBlanc and I am a collector who specializes in the ribbons used to suspend the various Orders, Decorations and Medals. My collection numbers around 10,000 items, and at the moment, I do more research than collecting. As such, I am also very interested in any reference material dealing with Orders, Decorations and Medals. My secondary interest is in the WW1 Campaign in German East Africa.

I am married to a wonderful and very understanding wife (Pauline). We have three daughters and four cute grandchildren. I am retired from the Canadian Forces, having served 30 years in the Communicator Research (291er) trade, and as an Air Force Communications and Electronics Engineering Officer. I transferred to the Communications Reserve, and became the Commanding Officer of 700 (Borden) Communication Squadron located at Canadian Forces Base Borden. I'm presently the Deputy Commander of 72 Communication Group in Halifax, NS.

Upon retirement, I worked 8 years for the Ontario Provincial Government as the Emergency Management and Security Coordinator for Justice Technology Services, the Information Technology Cluster for the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services and the Ministry of the Attorney General. I now have my own Consulting Business specializing in Risk Management, Business Continuity and Emergency Management known as Jean-Paul LeBlanc Consulting Services.

For those interested, here is an image of the medals I have been awarded. These consist of the Special Service Medal with bars "ALERT" and "NATO/OTAN", and the Canadian Forces Decoration (C.D.) with two clasps denoting 32 years of service.
