  • Regulation and description of medal «Flawless service in law-enforcement agencies» prepared President Ilham Aliyev signed the decree on the law «Regulation and description of medal «Flawless service in law-enforcement agencies» of Azerbaijan Republic». Cabinet of ministers is assigned to prepare offers on bringing acting regulations in line with the aforesaid law within one-month period. Regulation and description of medal «Flawless service in law-enforcement agencies» of Azerbaijan Republic were also published. This medal is awarded to persons that served 10, 15 and 20 years in law-enforcement agencies of Azerbaijan (including service in Soviet times). This medal is issued by appropriate executive power bodies. Three degrees of the medal are set: first, second and third (20, 15 and 10 years of service, respectively). The medal is pinned to the left side of uniform, among other orders and medals of Azerbaijan Republic. The diameter of the medal is 32 mm. Medals of first degree have “golden” color, second degree – “golden and silver”, and third degree – “silver” color. trend.az 26 Apr 06

• Azerbaijan Awards State Medal to Zaman Daily Zaman-Azerbaijan, celebrating its 15th anniversary, was awarded by Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliev with a state medal. An official statement read, “Zaman- Azerbaijan Newspaper Editor-in-Chief Enes Cansever has been awarded the Tereggi (progress) medal for his achievements in the development of Azerbaijani journalism and for the consolidation of friendly relationships between Turkey and Azerbaijan.”  zaman.com 29 May 06

• Azeri president conferred frontier guards medals The President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed an order conferring servicemen of the State Border Service of Azerbaijan (SBS). In relation with the professional holiday of SBS, several servicemen of SBS were awarded for their highly implementing the service duties. Order “For service before native land” was conferred to lieutenant-general Inayet Khalilov and major-general Mammad Abbasguliyev. And the order “For native land” was awarded to mayor Ibrahim Aleskerov. Besides, 37 servicemen of SBS were conferred with order “For military service”. trend.az 15 Aug 06

• Red Crescent to award medals to Erdogan and Sezer for service The Turkish Red Crescent has announced that it will be presenting both President Ahmet Necdet Sezer and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan with medals in honor of their service in past years. Erdogan's medal will be presented to him on November 1, which is also "Red Crescent Day," and will be in recognition of his work following the deadly Asian tsunami, as well as in support of channeling public funding towards the Red Crescent in general, reports Trend. The medals in honor of service are to be a new annual tradition for the Turkish Red Crescent, and will be presented from now on once a year to people who are perceived as worthy of the recognition. Reports have noted that the Red Crescent has spent a "fortune" on the medals, with the two alone for Erdogan and Sezer reportedly costing the organization 21 thousand YTL, or around $15,000. trend.az 12 Sep 06

• Ceremony of Presenting Orders “Grand Cross Of Legion Of Honor” and “Heydar Aliyev”  A ceremony of presenting the orders “Grand Cross of the Legion of Honor” and “Heydar Aliyev” took place at the Elysee Palace.President Chirac conferred the order “Grand Cross of the Legion of Honor” upon President Ilham Aliyev. “This is your first state visit to our country, and it is my great pleasure to confer the France’s highest award Legion of Honor’s highest class order “Grand Cross of the Legion of Honor” upon you,” Chirac said. President Ilham Aliyev conferred the order “Heydar Aliyev” upon President Chirac. “This Order is presented in very rare cases. • Educational servants awarded honorary titles and medals Educational servants who conferred honorary titles, order and medals at the order of the head of the state were awarded in Education Ministry. Education Minister Misir Mardanov stated that 2 educational workers in Azerbaijan were awarded “Independence” order, 83 “Glory”, 472 “Prosperity”, 108 scientists Honored Scientist, 471 honored teacher, 43 honored art worker, 29 honored physical training teacher, and 55 President’s stipend within 1998-2007. Generally, 1264 educational servants were awarded order and medals and conferred honorary titles within this period. 86 were awarded honored teacher due to new order of the head of the state. 24 of them are directors of schools, 46 teachers, 3 servant of pre-school training, 1 official of Education Department, 4 officials of trade union organizations. 56 educational servants were awarded “Prosperity” medal, 10 of them are directors of schools, 2 of them deputy directors, 35 teachers. en.apa.az 5 Oct 07
• Azerbaijani Officers Awarded Medals by United States Military Forces Four Azerbaijani peace-keeping soldiers in Iraq were awarded the United States Military-Marine Forces and Sea Infantryman medals for good service. The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry’s press-service reported to Trend that the officers of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, Mayor Huseyn Dashdamirov, Captains Nasimi Javadov and Alizamin Karimov, and Chief Lieutenant Abdulla Abdullayev were awarded medals for their professional military service. Since 1997 the peace-keeping troop, and later the peace-keeping camp, were formed in the Azerbaijani Armed Forces. About 150 peace-keeping soldiers of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces have been serving in Iraq, 34 in Kosovo and 45 in Afghanistan. The officers were awarded with medals by the head of NATO and Multinational Forces. news.trendaz.com 14 Jan 08
